Ispra - From Pope Francis' message to today's challenges: the conference "Laudato Sì, Ten Years Later" in Ispra - Varese News

The Achille Grandi Foundation, together with the ACLI of Lombardy and Varese, is promoting a meeting at Casa Don Guanella in Barza di Ispra to explore Pope Francis's encyclical.
On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the encyclical Laudato sì , the Achille Grandi Foundation , in collaboration with the regional ACLI of Lombardy and the provincial ACLI of Varese , is organizing a public meeting for in-depth study and discussion entitled: “Laudato sì ten years later”, which will be held on Wednesday 10 September 2025, at 3 pm , at Casa Don Guanella, in Piazza Don Guanella 43, Barza di Ispra .
The initiative will be chaired by Antonio Russo , president of the Achille Grandi Foundation. Institutional greetings will be provided by Martino Troncatti, regional president of the Lombardy ACLI, and Filippo Cardaci, president of the Varese provincial ACLI.
Following this, three authoritative speakers will offer a detailed reading of the encyclical and its impact: Marco Rochini – “Church and Environment from Pius XII to Francis” Rochini, a researcher in the History of Christianity and professor of Hagiography, will explore the transformations of the Church in its relationship with the environment throughout the twentieth century up to the pontificate of Pope Francis. Gian Luca Podestà – “Laudato Si’: A Turning Point in the Church’s Social Doctrine” Podestà, an expert in economic history, will explore how Laudato Si' represents a turning point in the evolution of the Church's social doctrine, particularly with regard to economic and social inequalities.
Claudia Sorlini – “The Relevance, Impact, and Timeliness of Laudato Si’”
Sorlini, Professor Emeritus of Agricultural Microbiology, will discuss the encyclical's relevance to environmental sustainability, biodiversity, and the recovery of natural resources.The meeting will also include a space for audience input.
